First I Moved From Reader I started as an avid reader early in my childhood. In those days TVs didn't exist yet, not in communist Eastern Europe, where I was born and where I grew up. Books were our main entertainment. And movies. And radio. In that order. By the time I came to the United States at the age of 18, my fate was sealed. I was destined to major in English - just as soon as I had learned the language and could go to college. Once I started, I couldn't stop - not until I earned my Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University. I promptly became a professor of English - well, at first just an assistant professor - and plied my trade in the classroom with passion, compassion, and enthusiasm. My students loved me. And the feeling was mutual. You can't teach well unless you care. And I cared about how and why and what and how much my students learned in my courses. I spoke to their hearts as well as to their minds. By the time I retired, my colleagues called me a "master teacher." In addition to teaching during that time, I also gave talks at other colleges and universities, read papers at conferences, and published books and articles. . . . And After All That, When all this came to an end, I felt a kind of empty-nest syndrome. And I realized that I needed to do something more. And that's when I stumbled upon copywriting. It was "love at first sight" (Shakespeare, by way of Marlowe, for what it's worth). I began to read copy. And felt that I could write this kind of thing myself. So I took courses and hit the books. It was like a rebirth. As if I had regained my youth. So now I am at your service. Ready to put my many years of teaching and writing experience - transformed into the art of writing great copy - to work for you. For your products or services. As you know, "good enough" isn't good enough anymore. You need that something extra, that "something far more deeply interfused," to quote a famous Romantic poet (Wordsworth, for what it's worth). In any case, I can provide that for you. And we will both find it a valuable experience. And we will both profit from it. Back to Top |
